Hey, what's going on Gents? This is your man Mike Doc Rannigan. This is another episode of frequently asked questions with Docs Roofing and Construction.
And this really isn't a Frequently Asked Question, but this is really, really important to know, whenever you're getting your roof replaced. Oftentimes, roofing companies talk about warranties, talking about certified installers, right. And so if you ever come out of your home and your materials are showing up at your, on your driveway, and you notice that you have a CertainTeed brand, and then you have an Owens Corning brand on the truck, the odds of either one of those manufacturers covering your roof on a warranty is zero.
So the manufacturer states that they have to use specific guidelines, install their product a certain way, in order to ensure that the warranty is going to be available for your use. That being said, most roofing companies out there, go out to the GAF facility, they go out to the Owens Corning facility to the Malarkey facility, or any other preferred brand that they install, and understand the process of how the shingles are made, how the shingle is installed, what components go with that particular roofing system, and then they give you a certificate stating that you're a certified installer of that product.
So my advice to you the homeowner is to ask if they are certified installers of that specific brand and if they say yes, we'll cool - Can you show me that certification? The reason we do this is that we want to make sure that if you ever have to file a warranty claim, we want to make sure that the warranty is done correctly so that you're protected long term of your roof.
